We grow food and futures together

When you give or volunteer, you become part of the work happening here every day. Your support helps grow fresh food, create hands-on training, and provide a strong community where people in recovery can rebuild their lives with purpose.

Origins

Built on family,
rooted in soil

Simple Promise Farms was born out of a story I never would have chosen. But it is the story that changed everything.

Before any of this existed, I was a father watching my son fight for his life.
I watched addiction take hold and pull him further from the person I knew. I felt the fear, the confusion, the broken trust, and the helplessness that so many families carry quietly and alone. I know what it is like to love someone with everything you have and still feel powerless.

Simple Promise Farms grew out of a desire to build the kind of environment where people do not just survive addiction but truly rebuild from it.

Today the farm has grown into something larger than one family's story. It is a community built around meaningful work, service, scholarships, and connection. It exists to serve anyone whose life has been touched by addiction and who is ready to begin again.

Before addiction, there was a young man full of life, promise, humor, and dreams.

Sometimes addiction begins with an injury, a prescription, and a family that has no idea what is coming next.

Recovery gave him more than sobriety. It gave him a chance to build a life, love deeply, show up for others, and become the man we always knew was still in there.

This picture is why we do the work. Recovery is not just about stopping the using. It is about rebuilding families, restoring relationships, and creating moments we once feared we might never get to have.

Year in review

What we’ve accomplished

This year has shown what can grow when a community comes together with purpose. From harvests and farmers markets to recovery support, meaningful work, service, and community events, every milestone reflects lives touched and hope restored.

These accomplishments are more than numbers. They represent food grown, confidence rebuilt, relationships strengthened, and people in recovery learning to show up, serve, and belong.

Your support helps us keep growing food, futures, scholarships, and opportunities for lasting change. Join us in continuing the mission.

12 Meaningful
work participants

Twelve Meaningful Work participants means twelve people received paid work, real wages, and the dignity of earning an income while rebuilding their lives.

That is twelve salaries invested directly into recovery, stability, responsibility, and a fresh start.

$1,578 Sober living and mental health scholarships

This year, Simple Promise Farms provided $1,578 in sober living and mental health scholarships, helping remove barriers for people taking their next step in recovery.

Since we started, that total has grown to $44,599 invested directly into support, stability, and second chances.

946 Volunteer hours on the farm

Someone chose to show up — to pull weeds, plant seeds, and work alongside people rebuilding their lives. 946 times. Every hour volunteered on this farm is poured directly into the soil, the mission, and the people at the heart of Simple Promise Farms.

Brandon Guinn

Executive director, founder

Brandon Guinn is a father, farmer, and teacher who founded Simple Promise Farms as a place where healing and purpose can take root. Drawing from his own passion for service and transformation, he created a recovery program that blends therapeutic gardening, animal-assisted experiences, and the 12 spiritual principles to support individuals on their journey out of addiction.

For over five years, Brandon has been at the heart of building both the land and the community at Simple Promise Farms. His work goes beyond growing food—he is cultivating an environment where people in recovery can rediscover purpose, develop life skills, and experience the power of belonging.

Under Brandon’s leadership, the farm has become a space where sustainable agriculture and human restoration go hand in hand. His commitment to grace, accountability, and growth is woven into every aspect of the organization—from the crops in the field to the people who walk through the gates.

Brandon believes that just as the land can be restored, so can lives. Through his leadership, he continues to inspire a community rooted in compassion, resilience, and lasting change.

Tori Guinn

Community Relations Coordinator

Tori Guinn brings a background in elementary education and a deep love for gardening, animals, and community connection. With a natural ability to nurture both people and living things, she plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment at Simple Promise Farms.

An avid animal lover, Tori has helped re-home numerous dogs in need and shares her life with six of her own. Her compassion and commitment to care extend into every aspect of her work on the farm.

At Simple Promise Farms, Tori leads volunteer coordination and community engagement efforts, organizing events and creating meaningful opportunities for people to get involved. She is often the first point of connection for visitors, volunteers, and partners, helping foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
Through her work, Tori helps cultivate not just the land, but a strong, connected, and compassionate community.

Kegan Clausen

Farm Manager

Kegan Clausen brings nearly a decade of experience in permaculture and regenerative farming, along with a deep passion for growing and preparing nourishing food. He believes that healthy soil is the foundation for healthy crops—and that sharing good food is one of the most powerful ways to build community.

At Simple Promise Farms, Kegan leads all aspects of farm production, focusing on growing nutrient-dense, beautiful produce using sustainable, regenerative practices. Beyond the harvest, he is committed to creating a space where people can connect to the land, learn new skills, and experience healing through the process of growing food.

Kegan’s work reflects a simple but powerful belief: when we care for the soil, we create the conditions for both plants and people to thrive.

Alexandra Litke

Development Coordinator

Alex brings a strong background in recovery advocacy, community building, and nonprofit development to her work at Simple Promise Farms. She has served as a board member for RecoveryATX since 2018 and previously held state-level service positions with Oxford House in the Texas South Region, supporting the growth and accountability of recovery housing communities.

Her work is rooted in connection, lived experience, and a deep belief in the power of community to create lasting change.
At Simple Promise Farms, Alex leads development and outreach efforts, supporting fundraising initiatives, partnerships, and strategic growth. She plays a key role in sharing the organization’s story, expanding its reach, and connecting supporters to the mission.

With years of experience supporting nonprofit organizations, Alex is passionate about building opportunities that strengthen both individuals and the broader community, helping ensure the farm can continue to grow, serve, and provide a place where purpose and healing take root.

Outside of her work, Alex is grounded in her role as a wife and mother. She and her husband are raising their son and daughter alongside their two dogs, Sissy and Angus. Her commitment to family and community is at the heart of everything she does, helping ensure the farm continues to grow as a place where purpose, connection, and healing take root.

Brian Smith

Agribusiness DTC Consultant

Brian Smith is originally from New York and relocated to Austin in pursuit of recovery, a journey that ultimately reshaped both his life and career. After completing treatment at Ranch House Recovery, he chose to stay and continue building a path grounded in purpose, accountability, and growth.
At Simple Promise Farms, Brian serves as the Agribusiness Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Consultant, playing a key role in both value-added production and market strategy. He leads the development of handcrafted products like hot sauces, pickled vegetables, and other farm goods, while also helping shape how those products are brought to market and shared with the community.

Brian brings creativity, pride, and intention to everything he does. He is passionate about contributing to a mission-driven environment alongside people he considers family, and his work reflects the heart of Simple Promise Farms—where growth, connection, and transformation are possible for everyone.

Evan Roberts

Farm Team Member

Evan Roberts was born in the Midland-Odessa area and later relocated to Austin, where he now lives with his aunt. As Brandon Guinn’s nephew, Evan found his way to Simple Promise Farms and quickly became a valued part of the team.

Evan enjoys working on the farm because it allows him to stay active, work with his hands, and connect with others who are on their own journeys of growth and recovery. He takes pride in contributing to a positive, supportive environment where people are working to better their lives.

His favorite tasks on the farm include harvesting, seeding, and helping with aesthetic improvements that keep the space looking welcoming and cared for. While his favorite vegetable is green beans, he’s still holding out hope they might make an appearance on the farm one day.

Outside of the farm, Evan enjoys playing pool and spending time with friends. He truly loves being part of the farm community and the sense of purpose it brings to his everyday life.

Community stories

The farm’s mission comes to life through the voices of volunteers, employees, alumni, and community members shaped by their time here. Each story reflects the impact of meaningful work, real connection, and belonging. From the field to the farmers market, Simple Promise Farms is not just growing food, but helping people grow into new chapters of their lives.

“My experience in treatment would not have been the same without working on the farm. It has changed how I view my body, the choices that I make to stay healthy, and how I want to live my life. Sharing my story and working side-by-side with the community has helped me with my recovery and will, hopefully, help someone else.”

- Tim Templeton, Ranch House Recovery Alumni & Simple Promise Farms Volunteer

“Very simply, I find peace and joy and connection when I’m out on the farm and in the garden. Not just the physical connection to the earth and the food that I put into my body, but also to the community that exists around the farm.”

- Kevin Sease, Ranch House Recovery Alumni and Simple Promise Farms Employee

“Simple Promise Farms brings nutrition and healthy eating into people’s homes. For me, though, this community and farm helped save my life.”
